On 30 November 2012, a special Recognition of Achievement ceremony was held at AIMS South Africa for the January 2012 intake for the AIMS Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematical Sciences. On 20 June 2012, a special graduation ceremony was held in Muizenberg Pavilion for the August 2011 intake of AIMS-South Africa Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematical Sciences. 52 students graduated bringing the total number of AIMS graduates to 412 (including 124 women), from 32 different African countries, since the institute was opened in 2003. 55 students from 21 different African countries graduated with the AIMS Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematical Sciences on 23rd of June 2011. Prof Alain Damlamian (CIMPA) and Prof Barry Green (AIMS) have signed a memorandum of understanding in which AIMS undertakes to host a biennial CIMPA School. The agreement was signed on Wednesday 15 June 2011 during the CIMPA Research School on Modelling and Simulation in Population Biology being held at AIMS in Muizenberg.
