Neil Turok wins TED award

South Africans Archbishop Desmond Tutu and physicist Neil Turok were among the 10 global luminaries who received ‘Most Innovative People Awards’ at this year’s World Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (WSIE), as reported in sagoodnews.co.za.

AIMS receives DoE funding
The South African Minister of Education, Naledi Pandor, recently visited AIMS, and announced that AIMS is to receive substantial DoE funding.
PGD Graduation 2005-6
The students were awarded their diplomas by their respective universities on 23 June 2006. The ceremony was held at AIMS in Muizenberg and was conducted by Martin Hall for the University of Cape Town, Chris Brink for Stellenbosch University and Brian O’Connell for the University of the Western Cape. The Postgraduate Diploma Programme 2005-6 alumni have published a magazine, the AIMS Tribune.
PGD Graduation 2004-5
The AIMS 2004/5 graduation took place on 24 June at 5pm. Forty-one students successfully defended an essay for their postgraduate diploma. Professor Neil Gershenfeld, director of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms, gave a lecture entitled Bits and Atoms at 1:30pm. Professor Romain Murenzi, the Hon. Minister of Education, Science and Technology (Rwanda), presented a mathematical lecture
