Clinic on Meaningful Modelling of Biological Data
The Centre for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science (DIMACS), in collaboration with the Mathematical Biosciences Institute (MBI), the South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (SACEMA), and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is holding a 5-day mathematical biology modelling clinic that will emphasize data analysis. African School on Electronic Structure Methods and Applications
The African School on Electronic Structure Methods and Applications will be held 14–25 July 2008 at AIMS. The School will cover the fundamentals of modern electronic-structure theory based on density functional theory, with emphasis on the pseudopotential/plane-wave approach, together with some of the most relevant recent developments and applications. A short course on Mathematical Biology for South African students was run at AIMS from 30 June to 11 July 2008. This course was run in partnership with SACEMA.

Short course: Mathematics in the Biological Sciences
A short course for South African students in their third or honours year in mathematics will be held at AIMS from the 9th to the 13th July 2007. Modelling of infectious diseases
AIMS, SACEMA, and DIMACS, is holding an Advanced Study Institute on Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases in Africa for students interested in this field. The institute will be followed by a research workshop that will serve as a capstone.
