Prof. Warnich is a professor in Genetics and the Dean of the Faculty of Science at Stellenbosch University. She obtained both her MSc and PhD degrees in Human Genetics from Stellenbosch University. 

She is a member of the Innovus Board of Directors. She is an editorial board member of Human Genomics and a review editor for Frontiers in Pharmacogenetics. She is also registered as a medical scientist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. 

Her current personal research interests focus on genetic variation in pharmacogenes in South African populations and the application of pharmacogenomics and other -omics platforms to optimize therapies in schizophrenia. Her research has resulted in many scientific publications (orcid.org/0000-0002-9331-998X) and she has supervised/co-supervised more than 40 MSc and PhD students. 

She has been a member of the AIMS South Africa Council since May 2017.
