Memorandum of Understanding between Université catholique de Louvain and AIMS South Africa

On Friday 25 October 2013, a delegation representing several Belgium universities visited AIMS-SA.The institutes included the Interuniversity Committee for International Relations, Université catholique de Louvain, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Université de Liège and Université de Mons.

During the visit a MOU was signed by Professor Bruno Delvaux, Rector, Université catholique de Louvain and Prof Barry Green, Director of AIMS. The MOU declares a firm intention to collaborate in the fields of teaching and/or research.

For this purpose the following cooperation projects will be carried out within a two-year period:

  • student and academic staff exchanges
  • joint research activities
  • exchange of academic material

The delegation was given a presentation on AIMS, the students, the academic programmes, the facilities and the Next Einstein Initiative. Ingrid Rewitzky, Vice-Dean in the Faculty of Science from Stellenbosch University also took the opportunity to address the delegates and explained the collaboration between AIMS-SA and Stellenbosch University. The delegates also had the opportunity to meet with AIMS students during tea.
