On 26 September 2025, AIMSEC proudly participated in the Molo Mhlaba School celebrations, marking a historic moment: for the first time, a cohort of Grade 7 learners graduated from primary school. This milestone is particularly significant as Molo Mhlaba is the first private STEM-focused school for girls in the Khayelitsha area, setting a benchmark for quality education in the community.
The event was a testament to vision, dedication, and collaboration. We salute Dr Rethabile Mashale Sonibare (co-founder and director) and Sibulele Magini (principal) for their tireless commitment to nurturing young minds and creating an environment where girl learners can thrive.
Adding to the uniqueness of the celebration, Dr Sinobia Kenny, keynote speaker and long-time supporter of Molo Mhlaba, brought her daughter along. Remarkably, her daughter had been taught by Principal Sibulele Magini in a different Montessori setting, reflecting the deep, interwoven connections that make this educational journey so special. Her daughter also shared pearls of wisdom with the girls.
The graduation was a truly remarkable and united effort, celebrating the achievements of these young learners and sending them off with confidence to the next phase of their exciting educational adventure. AIMSSEC is proud to continue supporting initiatives that strengthen pathways for girls and STEM education in historically under-resourced communities.
