AIMS South Africa is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its groundbreaking student entrepreneurship program, which engaged 55 talented Master’s students in tackling real-world challenges. The programme, focused on food, energy, and water systems, witnessed seven groups passionately working towards innovative solutions.
Over the course of two months, the participating students underwent intensive training, acquiring essential entrepreneurial skills and exploring potential business opportunities in their respective fields. The programme fostered a spirit of collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving among the students.
The pinnacle of the programme was the highly anticipated final pitching session, held on 14 April 2023. The seven groups presented their creative solutions to a panel of esteemed judges, industry experts, and AIMS faculty members. Each group showcased their in-depth research, impressive prototypes, and comprehensive business plans.
Amidst tough competition, two groups stood out and emerged victorious: Farm Connect and Movable Solar. Farm Connect proposed an innovative solution for enhancing agricultural connectivity and optimizing resource distribution, ensuring sustainable food systems. Movable Solar, on the other hand, developed an ingenious approach to harness solar energy through mobile infrastructure, revolutionizing access to renewable energy sources.
These two winning teams exemplify the exceptional talent, dedication, and entrepreneurial mindset nurtured at AIMS. The programme not only encouraged the development of groundbreaking solutions but also inspired the students to make a meaningful impact in their respective industries.
