This area focuses on topics from mathematical/computing foundations and computational mathematics. Areas represented include analysis of information systems, computational algebra, approximation theory and arithmetic geometry. Other interdisciplinary areas are included here depending on the interests of visiting scientists.

Dr Marc Sedjro, German Research Chair

Dr Marc Sedjro is the German Research Chair for Applied Mathematics with specialization in Partial Differential Equations and Calculus of Variations at AIMS South Africa.

Dr Mpfareleni Rejoyce Gavhi-Molefe, Resident Researcher

Dr Mpfareleni Rejoyce Gavhi-Molefe has been appointed as a Resident Researcher in the Research Centre where she has been a postdoctoral fellow since 2013. Before joining AIMS South Africa, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta, Canada

Prof. Jeff Sanders, Senior Resident Researcher

Prof. Jeff Sanders, is a Senior Resident Researcher at AIMS South Africa. His work applies mathematical techniques of modelling, analysis and construction to information systems to standard programmes, less standard software (probabilistic and quantum programmes) and distributed systems.
